Physical Therapy
In Texas and Colorado, our Angels provide pediatric physical therapy to clients with complex medical needs in their homes.
What We Do
What Is Pediatric Physical Therapy?
Pediatric physical therapy helps children to improve their gross motor skills and become more capable of independent movement. Gross motor skills are those that involve the body’s major muscle groups and include activities such as sitting, standing, walking, and lifting objects such as feeding utensils and hygiene items.
Chronic conditions, bone and muscle issues, developmental delays, genetic and brain/spine/nerve disorders, as well as injuries are among the reasons children need physical therapy to improve their ability to move about the world and take care of themselves.
When children are better able to navigate their environments, they can more effectively engage with family and peers and participate in activities at home, school, and other places.
Physical therapy typically results in a variety of benefits, such as helping your child to
-
Increase and maintain strength
-
Improve mobility
-
Become more flexible
-
Increase range of motion
-
Recover from injury or surgery
Physical therapy helps to make everyday activities easier for the client and their family. As physical therapy helps your child build strength, endurance, and independence, it also builds their confidence!
Angels of Care
What Our Pediatric Physical Therapy Angels Do
Our licensed physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapy assistants (PTAs) are experienced with diagnosing and treating infants, children, and young adults with a variety of gross motor skills challenges.
In addition to providing stretches and exercises for strength and mobility, our physical therapy Angels can recommend and train you and your child to use orthotics and other adaptive equipment. Adaptive equipment is any device or tool – such as a crutch or splint – that assists your child in overcoming a physical challenge.
Our PT Angels team also works collaboratively with you and your child, as well as your child’s other healthcare providers and their school to help each child meet their goals and reach their full potential.
What’s more, pediatric PTs make improving your child’s motor skills fun! Pediatric physical therapy typically includes activities and even games that feel like play to your child. It may involve things like bouncing on exercise balls, dancing, moving toys from place to place with your feet, obstacle courses, walking like a certain animal, and other creative activities that create the desired movement for improvement.
