Calling All Angels | Christmas Tree Family Wish List
This resilient North Texas family has faced more heartache than most, from the loss of their mother to the daily challenges of raising a three-year-old with autism while caring for a younger sister. Through every setback, they continue to push forward and hold on to hope. This Christmas, you can help bring comfort and joy to their season. Angels of Care has partnered with Especially Needed to fulfill their holiday wish list, and every gift you give reminds them that their community is standing beside them.
This North Texas family has always been small, made up of a mother and her two daughters who learned early on how to make the most of very little. In 2018, life finally started to shift in a better direction. Their mother landed a good job, and for the first time, they moved into a small duplex that felt like hope. It was a milestone she was proud of and a moment that made the girls believe things were finally changing.
Then, in 2021, everything unraveled. Their mother was diagnosed with breast cancer after being misdiagnosed and mistreated. By the time doctors took her condition seriously, the disease had progressed too far. In May of 2022, the eldest daughter welcomed her baby boy into the world. One month later, in June, she lost her mom. The joy of becoming a mother collided with the devastation of losing the woman who raised her.
With a newborn in her arms and her younger sister suddenly depending on her, she stepped into a role she never expected to take on so soon. The family moved in with their aunt, grateful for the support but grieving the stability they once briefly tasted. Over time, she learned that her son, now three years old, has autism. She hopes to begin ABA therapy to support his development, but the cost has kept it out of reach.
She dreams of something simple but meaningful. She hopes for a steady home for her son and sister, a place where they can breathe and feel secure. Even though she does everything she can to keep the family afloat, she often feels they deserve more than just surviving.
For this family, the toy drive represents more than presents under a tree. It is a reminder that they are not alone, that kindness still exists, and that their story matters. It offers the possibility of joy for two children who have been through so much and a moment of light for a young mother who continues to carry her family forward, even on the hardest days.
This Christmas, they are hoping for a little bit of magic, the kind their mother always tried to create, and a reminder that brighter days are still ahead.
