This single mom in North Texas is raising two sons with significant medical needs while also managing her own health challenges. Both sons face complex conditions, including autism, spina bifida, a history of major surgeries, and ongoing medical care. With the holidays approaching, the toy drive offers much-needed support to help bring joy and warmth to a family that has shown incredible strength through every challenge. Angels of Care has partnered with Especially Needed to fulfill their holiday wish list, and every gift you give reminds them that their community is standing beside them.

In North Texas, a devoted single mother is raising two young adult sons with special needs. Her own journey includes living with epilepsy and recently receiving an autism diagnosis, yet she continues to guide her family with patience, strength, and unwavering love. Her older son is an Eagle Scout who finds joy in volunteering through their church and local PTA, always eager to serve others even while navigating his own medical needs.

Both sons face significant health challenges that shape their daily lives. The younger son is autistic and was born with a serious heart defect that required three procedures, two open heart surgeries, and the placement of an artificial heart valve. He also manages asthma on top of his cardiac needs. His older brother has spina bifida and uses a VP shunt. Much of his nutrition comes from a g-tube, and throughout his life he has undergone numerous surgeries, including back closure shortly after birth, shunt placement, repeated ear tube surgeries, bilateral knee restructuring, and partial femur grafts. Despite these obstacles, he continues to push forward with courage.

This mother works tirelessly to support her sons as their needs evolve, doing everything she can to create moments of comfort, joy, and normalcy. The holiday season brings both excitement and financial strain, and she hopes to make Christmas special for her boys while managing ongoing medical demands.

This year, the toy drive offers more than gifts. It offers a moment of brightness for a family that has faced hardship with remarkable resilience. It reminds them that they are not alone, and that there is a community ready to lift them up and help bring warmth, joy, and hope into their home this Christmas.
