She ensures that medications and supplies are always stocked, meticulously disinfects and sanitizes her environment to reduce illness (a major seizure trigger), and takes every step possible to protect her health and well-being. What sets Jodi apart is her unwavering advocacy and communication. She works tirelessly to make sure doctors and providers receive accurate and timely information, ensuring our daughter’s care is coordinated without gaps. During a particularly difficult time when she was severely dehydrated, had been awake for over 30 hours, and was in distress, Jodi immediately stepped in with compassion and strength. While my heart was breaking, she calmly supported and comforted my daughter, giving us the stability and reassurance we desperately needed. In those moments, Jodi was truly our rock. The impact she has made on our family is immeasurable. She brings us peace of mind knowing that our daughter is receiving the best possible care. She not only supports my daughter’s medical needs but also her emotional well-being, creating a bond that is nothing short of beautiful. [Our daughter] counts down the days until she sees “Ms. Jodi” and often tells us, “Ms. Jodi is the best nurse.” Even while inpatient, our daughter proudly reminded the hospital staff that Jodi was her nurse a testament to the love and trust she feels in her care. Jodi has singlehandedly improved and even saved my daughter’s life through her diligence, compassion, and advocacy. Our daughter’s mental health, physical health, and overall quality of life have dramatically improved because of Jodi’s extraordinary commitment. She embodies every principle of the ANA Code of Ethics and the DAISY Foundation’s mission, and we cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award.”
