Weather Alert-Texas

top-s

As part of Angels of Care’s Emergency Preparedness Program, we want to ensure that our clients, staff and families stay alert and weather-aware over the next few days. The majority of the State of Texas is under a heat advisory over the next few days. Excessively high temperatures and power outages are possible. Please plan today in the event you are unable to leave your home over the next several days. It is a good idea to keep your cell phones and other devices charged in the event of loss of power. Ensure you have enough food and water, and prepare your vehicle with a full gas tank and emergency supplies like flashlights, water, and batteries. Avoid outdoor activities, especially during the heat of the day. If you must be outside, be sure to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks in the shade. It is important to stay as hydrated as possible. Stay indoors in an air-conditioned space as much as possible, including overnight. If you do not have air conditioning, locate the nearest cooling shelter or discuss staying with nearby family or friends who have air conditioning. If you or anyone in your home needs assistance over the next week, please contact your local branch office or your local Red Cross @ https://www.redcross.org/, or local state and federal emergency management agencies @ https://www.disasterassistance.gov.
